Marshal Farmer

Marshal Farmer is a reporter and producer for KLTV and KTRE. He currently reports for Good Morning East Texas on Mondays and Tuesdays and produces for GMET Weekend.

Marshal grew up in Cedar Park, where he graduated from Cedar Park High School in 2020. He always found newscasts and live content production to be exciting, and it was a morning ritual for him to watch morning newscasts before school. After graduating high school, Marshal went to the University of North Texas, graduating in the fall 2024 semester with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Communication Studies. While at UNT, he was a reporter and anchor at UNT's award-winning newsroom, North Texas Television. He also directed shows at NTTV and North Texas Daily, assisting and teaching students in both the student newsroom and in practicum classes. During his 2024 summer semester, Marshal became an investigative reporter at ASU’s Carnegie-Knight News21 program, which is based in Phoenix, Arizona. He reported on the state of American democracy going into the 2024 presidential election, specifically on intimidation and harassment that election workers experienced across the country during and after the 2020 presidential election. The work of his colleagues and himself resulted in a documentary that was aired by PBS and won multiple awards.

Now, Marshal serves the East Texas community, focusing on stories that impact people's quality of life or highlighting the passions, skills, and hobbies of East Texans.
